WHO WE ARE

The Royal Commission Forum brings people together to promote justice for survivors of historic abuse in Aotearoa New Zealand with regard to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions - Te Kōmihana Karauna mō ngā Tūkino o Mua ki te Hunga i Tiakina e te Kāwanatanga i Tiakina hoki e ngā Whare o to Whakapono.

Founded in 2018, the Forum's role evolved during the course of the Royal Commission. Originally, formed as an independent body, in 2022 we signed a Memorandum of Understanding that positioned the Forum as an official advisory body to the Commission. The Forum met regularly with Commissioners and Senior Leadership to provide feedback and advice on Commission actitivities and to review repart drafts.

The Forum also engaged in advocacy on matters concerning the work of the Royal Commission. That work is available on our Publications page '.
